Spring cleaning

It's time for cleaning and consolidation once again.  I find I have too many blogs to maintain, too many URLs to track. 
To correct that last condition, I've registered www.jeberjabber.com, and you can now visit this blog using that straight-forward URL. 
During the next week I'll be relocating content and this will once again become my primary blog for casual conversations.
Thanks to everyone who stops by, and please don't hesitate to fire off a comment now and then.

Stories like this are making me reconsider my use of Blogger as a host for my other blog.  I absolutely refuse to have anything to do with any service that uses me to spread spyware, adware or malware. 

Chris moves and bloggers notice

Sometimes we're reminded just how small the blogsphere can be.  Over at Scripting News,  Dave Winer has made mention of Chris' move to the great Pacific NorthWest.  Chris  has posted a couple of photos on his blog of the view out his window.  Seems he's disappointed that it isn't raining on his parade.  Enjoy it while you can, my friend.

New review blog

No more reviews here.  Instead, I'm starting a new blog specifically intended to feature news and reviews you can use, and I'm going to call it, ummm, let's see...how about News and Reviews.   Previous reviews posted here will be copied over to that site, and new reviews are in the works.  I'll only be covering products and applications of use to the average computer user, like me.  Things you might find useful to increase your productivity or make your computer more enjoyable to use.  I'm also willing to post your reviews, so please submit reviews or suggestions for them there.
Meanwhile, this blog will return to it's original purpose, a place for me to expose my innermost thoughts on subjects important to me, and I hope, you.

Blogging disclosure

This should set the standard for all journalists who blog. David Akin, a Canadian tech journalist who works for CTV and The Globe and Mail, explains clearly who pays his bills and what comes out of his own pocket. For many years serious journalists have had to ensure that they are free from undue influence in their reporting, even though we knew they usually presented the viewpoint of their publisher. But the new world of blogging presents an opportunity for them to present their own opinions, free of even the influence of their employer. Or so we assume. By posting his disclosure statement, David has stepped up and announced that his blog is his own. Now let's see how many other reporters, magazine writers and TV pundits follow suit.

The apostle of blog

Today was interesting. I went to the first job interview I've attended with my new intention of finding a job in the IT/help desk field. I remember those past ones during which I'd try to sound enthusiastic about the prospect of managing another retail location and selling some new product line. Today, I was able to be honestly excited about my impressions of technology in general, my enjoyment of helping others in a forum-type situation (like a help desk with jet lag), and my opinions on the future of personal computing. I talked for about ten minutes on the joy of blogging, and how interactions on the web bypassed so many of the visual and aural indicators we often use to prejudge those we meet. On the web, no one knows... All in all, it was a very enjoyable experience, and while I don't stand a chance in hell of getting this particular position, I am glad I had the chance to act as an apostle for blogging.
