Three job interviews in one day and I still found time to install a new distro. I received "Point & Click Linux" for review (coming soon to a blog near you) and since it included a CD-ROM of MEPIS, I didn't feel it would be a complete review until I installed MEPIS and gave it a test drive. As I'm posting this from it, you know installation went well. This is the first Debian based OS that has really behaved well on my Toshiba laptop. Most impressive of all thus far; my pcmcia wireless modem card was recognized as a modem at startup, and getting online required nothing more than setting up the connection with kppp. The only other distro that could do that was Mandrake. So stay tuned for my full review of the book. It looks like I'll be writing it in Open Office and posting it from MEPIS.
